The Crop Recommendation System is an intelligent agriculture-based application that recommends the most suitable crop for cultivation based on important environmental and soil parameters. The system analyzes inputs such as Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), Potassium (K), temperature, humidity, rainfall, and soil pH to identify the crop that is most appropriate for the given conditions. Machine learning algorithms are used to learn patterns from historical agricultural data and generate crop recommendations. The system helps farmers make data-driven cultivation decisions, improve crop productivity, reduce resource wastage, and support sustainable agricultural practices.
In the existing system, crop selection is generally based on traditional farming practices, farmer experience, local knowledge, and manual soil analysis. Farmers may consult agricultural experts or use general recommendations based on geographical regions and seasonal conditions.
The proposed Crop Recommendation System uses Machine Learning to recommend suitable crops based on agricultural and environmental parameters. The user enters values such as N, P, K, temperature, humidity, pH, and rainfall into the system. The trained machine learning model processes these inputs and predicts the most suitable crop.
The system can be implemented using algorithms such as Random Forest, Decision Tree, K-Nearest Neighbors, Support Vector Machine, or other suitable classification algorithms. The trained model is integrated with a user-friendly application through which users can enter soil and weather information and receive an immediate crop recommendation.
Input Parameters → Data Preprocessing → Machine Learning Model → Prediction → Recommended Crop
Collect a suitable agricultural dataset containing crop names and corresponding soil and environmental parameters such as N, P, K, temperature, humidity, pH, and rainfall.
Clean the dataset by handling missing values, duplicate records, inconsistent data, and other data-quality issues.
Analyze the dataset to understand relationships between soil properties, environmental conditions, and different crops.
Select important features such as Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium, temperature, humidity, pH, and rainfall for model training.
Split the dataset into training and testing data and train suitable machine learning classification algorithms.
Evaluate the trained model using metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and confusion matrix.
Integrate the best-performing model into a web or desktop application.
Allow users to enter soil and environmental parameters through an easy-to-use interface.
Process the entered parameters through the trained model and generate the most suitable crop recommendation.
Display the recommended crop clearly to the user along with relevant input details and prediction information.
