Emotion Detection from Text is a Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning project that identifies emotions expressed in text messages, comments, reviews, and social media posts. The system analyzes textual input and classifies it into emotion categories such as happiness, sadness, anger, fear, surprise, and love. Using text preprocessing, feature extraction, and machine learning algorithms, the system predicts the most likely emotion expressed in the given text. This project can support sentiment analysis, customer feedback analysis, and emotion-aware applications.
Traditional text analysis often uses keyword matching or basic sentiment analysis to identify whether text is positive, negative, or neutral. These approaches may not capture specific emotions or understand the context of a sentence.
The proposed system uses NLP and machine learning techniques to identify emotions from text. The input text is cleaned, tokenized, and converted into numerical features using methods such as TF-IDF or word embeddings. A trained classification model predicts an emotion category such as happiness, sadness, anger, fear, surprise, or love. The results are displayed through a simple user interface. The model can be extended to deep learning approaches for improved contextual understanding.
