Driver Behaviour and Fatigue Analysis is an AI-based road safety project designed to monitor driver alertness and identify potentially unsafe driving behaviours. The system uses computer vision and deep learning techniques to analyze facial expressions, eye movements, blinking patterns, yawning, head position, and other visible indicators of fatigue. It can also analyze driving patterns, such as sudden braking, speeding, and lane deviation, when suitable vehicle or driving data is available. When signs of drowsiness or risky behaviour are detected, the system generates visual or audio alerts to encourage safer driving. The project aims to support driver assistance, reduce fatigue-related risks, and improve road safety.
Traditional driver monitoring methods rely on manual observation, vehicle sensors, or basic fatigue detection techniques. Some systems use simple eye-closure thresholds, which may not perform consistently under changing lighting conditions or when the driver's face is partially obstructed.
Disadvantages:
The proposed system combines computer vision, facial landmark analysis, and optional driving data to estimate driver fatigue and identify potentially unsafe behaviour. A camera captures the driver's face, and the system analyzes indicators such as eye closure, yawning, and head movement. If vehicle telemetry or driving records are available, the system can also examine speeding, sudden braking, and lane deviation. When predefined risk conditions are met, the system generates an alert and records the event in a monitoring dashboard.
